About the role

This is a remote role that will require occasional travel to our Wixom, MI facility. The Project Technician is responsible for leading, troubleshooting, and resolving issues on-site during CMM project systems installation. As the front-line face to the customer, you will commission automated measurement equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Represent ZEISS as onsite lead during installation of all project-related content.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and run off ZEISS CMM automated loading systems.
  • Direct and support end-user skilled trades teams during the installation of ZEISS CMM enclosures and automated measurement systems.
  • Oversee ZEISS equipment as it moves through the PRO TAG process.
  • Program and troubleshoot safety systems and electrical systems.
  • Program and troubleshoot Watlow HVAC controllers.
  • Communicate on-site installation status to the project manager.
  • Work with and validate deliverables of ZEISS contractors and vendors.
  • Document system acceptance and provide installation reports to the project manager.
  • Prepare custom documentation for the operation of each unique system.
  • Identify and report necessary engineering changes.
  • Support the engineering team in the development and validation of engineering changes.
  • Train customers on system use.

Requirements

  • Mechanical inclinations and skills preferred.
  • Verbal and written communication skills with an ability to create concise technical reports.
  • Mechanical detailing—reading blueprints, CAD drawings, etc.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office.
  • Electrical systems troubleshooting experience desired.
  • Must be a team player across the organization.
  • Must have a valid US driver’s license.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites 50%-70% and work off-schedule hours for up to 3 weeks at a time.
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity, such as keyboarding, conducting internet research, data entry, coding, matching, and filing.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on an infrequent basis.
