About the Role
Identify the planning requirements of the project and translate them into necessary actions. Gather, analyze, and provide Project Managers with information that highlights progress against goals, enabling them to make decisions to ensure project completion within time and budget. Implement regular updates to the project program of work for producing reports to company management and the client, ensuring clear progress reporting and effective project management. Develop "what-if" scenarios to address project variances.
Responsibilities
- Gather data, establish, and maintain a Project Master Schedule for the project using Primavera Project Planner (P6) software.
- Coordinate and align inputs from participating groups and sub-contractors.
- Update at specified intervals the current status of the project, variances, and related actions.
- Obtain monthly progress updates from participating groups to schedule activities and consolidate into the project master schedule.
- Update the project schedule narrative within the monthly project report on a monthly basis.
- Interpret the results of subsequent analyses, identifying critical activities and their effects on the schedule, and validate that remedial actions will meet customer requirements.
- Report the project status to stakeholders (Project Manager, company senior management, Client, and other interested parties) and develop "what-if" scenarios and recovery plans as needed.
- Maintain and operate the change control process.
- Participate in the Risk Management process and manage schedule-related mitigation and avoidance actions.
- Coordinate and plan the project rail access effort and maintain the project access plan and schedules.
- Chair regular access meetings between sub-contractors and project sub-system representatives.
- Perform earned value reporting and monitoring on a monthly basis.
- Conduct resource planning and forecasting.

Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in project planning on projects of at least $5 million.
- Demonstrated history of problem identification and solution development.
- Ability to build relationships with team members and articulate solutions via written/oral channels.
- Strong presentation skills and ability to interact with both internal and external customers.
- University degree or equivalent work experience in planning.
- Computer literate with experience in Excel, Word, and expert-level use of planning tools (Primavera, MS Project, Artemis, SAP).
- Evidence of experience in proactively seeking alternative solutions to achieve project goals.
- Experience in earned value reporting and monitoring.
- Understanding of how the function impacts business goals.
- Confidence in advocating solutions and influencing decision-making.
- Railway or engineering background is preferred.
- Expertise in project planning techniques and change control.
- Experience in risk management is preferred.
