Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for work rules and performance standards, conducts or oversees staff conferences, annual performance evaluations of five youth workers.
- Provides leadership and manages shift team to ensure the safety of individuals in the shelter (makes assignments, provides on the job training, mentors staff, and provides oversight of shelter activities).
- Completes and approves all intake screenings; conducts and completes intake paperwork for new admissions and completes discharge paperwork.
- Keeps appropriate case records including completion of weekly plan updates for youth assigned to their group.
- Responsible for overall safety and health of the youth and physical area.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree majoring in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, or Criminal Justice from an accredited college or university.
- Experience: Minimum three (3) years full-time paid work experience working with youth in a youth-service agency, short- or long-term residential care for youth, juvenile justice or in a social services setting. Two (2) years of supervisory experience in a Social Services setting.
- Training and experience using a personal computer with a variety of software such as Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Case Management Software.
- Licensure: Reliable transportation with a valid Texas driver’s license and auto liability insurance. Licensed as a Child Care Administrator or successfully complete the Child Care Administrator licensure within one year of hire and maintain thereafter.
- Required to complete Crisis Prevention Intervention, First Aid and CPR training within 90 days of hire.

Harris County Resources for Children and Adults was founded in 1966 as the Harris County Child Welfare Board to provide support services for children taken under the wing of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Fifty years later, Harris County Resources for Children and Adults still provides this support. But the now-county department has expanded services for early prevention, intervention, and adult services.

- Position Type, and Typical Hours of Work: Full-time | Regular Tuesday-Saturday | 7am - 3pm (Off Sunday & Monday)
- Salary/Location: Based on 26 Pay Periods Plus, Mileage Reimbursement 6300 Chimney Rock Rd., Houston, TX 77081 (Harris County Youth Shelter)
- Employment is contingent upon passing a background check and drug screen.
