This position will be filled at either the Project/Program Specialist 2 or Project/Program Specialist 3 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate.

About the role

The selected applicant will use project management, coordination, and administrative skills to ensure that qualification activities meet programmatic requirements of reestablishing rate production of plutonium pits at TA-55. The selected individual will work with stakeholders across LANL, partner laboratories, other national security enterprise labs, plants and sites to implement a structured process to maintain business operations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety and security compliance, maintain required safety and security training, and make safety and security an integral part of every task, including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.
  • Establish operational plans for job area, develop and implement new products or services to meet customer requirements with a given mission area, ensure process parameters are maintained, support cost estimating, cost analysis.
  • Monitor performance by analyzing, or reporting on the assigned aspects of the project scope.
  • Serve as the primary spokesperson to report status and issues to the PT leadership including group leaders, the program office and the division office.
  • Identify potential risks, develop risk mitigation strategies and corrective actions, and recommend risk acceptance/avoidance and report those risks to leadership.
  • Adhere to all Laboratory and regulatory guidance and governance specific to the project or program work.
  • Foster a mutually respectful and inclusive work environment that is free from discrimination and harassment.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of and experience in project management work.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory and Laboratory requirements related to business operations or other similar business operations.
  • Experience in developing and nurturing effective internal customer relationships.
  • Experience in successful planning, organizing, and reporting status and issues.
  • Comprehensive background in effective written and verbal communication skills as evidenced by internal and/or external interactions, briefings, reports, and presentations.

Qualifications

  • Education/Experience at the lower level: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related field from an accredited institution and 5 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
  • Education/Experience at the higher level: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related field from an accredited institution and 8 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Skills

  • Knowledge of regulatory and Laboratory requirements related to business operations or other similar business operations.
  • Experience in developing and nurturing effective internal customer relationships.
  • Experience in successful planning, organizing, and reporting status and issues.
  • Comprehensive background in effective written and verbal communication skills as evidenced by internal and/or external interactions, briefings, reports, and presentations.
  • Experience implementing regulatory requirements (e.g., DOE Order 426.2A, NAP 401.1A).
  • Familiarity with Conduct of Operations, Nuclear Facility Training, Engineering, and Maintenance as they apply to manufacturing facility environments.
  • Experience with NNSA Directive NAP401.1A, ALDWP's Weapons Quality Assurance Program, or similar rigorous quality management systems, e.g. 10CFR50, ASME or NQA-1.
  • Experience managing operations in a customer service environment.

Pay

  • Salary range based on qualifications and experience.

Schedule

  • Work 4 days per week, 10 hours per day.
  • May require 7-day coverage.
