Project Manager-Water & Wastewater

About the role

French & Parrello Associates is seeking a talented, energetic, and self-motivated Project Manager with a background and experience in Wastewater Engineering to join our team in Wall Township, NJ. We offer the opportunity to work on a vast array of infrastructure projects, including facilities planning, design, permitting, regulatory compliance, funding assistance, bid phase services, and engineering services during construction. Projects may serve municipalities, local and regional utility authorities, water and sewer utilities, or private utility clients.

The range of services on the water side may include master planning studies, rate studies, hydraulic modeling, water supply (including hydrogeological studies), transmission, storage, distribution, treatment, lead service line evaluation and replacement programs, and treatment innovations for emerging contaminants such as PFAS. On the wastewater side, services may include regional watershed and wastewater management planning, collection and conveyance systems (including pump stations and force mains), odor and corrosion control, treatment facilities, and outfalls.

Responsibilities

• Support the Director, Client Account Leaders, and other Project Managers in engaging with public and/or private clients, developing business, managing staff, and delivering challenging projects on time, on budget, and to the client’s satisfaction.
• Communicate effectively with peers, clients, project teams, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders to advance project discussions.
• Develop and implement engineering solutions to assist clients with maintaining, improving, or constructing their water and/or wastewater infrastructure.
• Navigate regulations and permitting requirements for local (NJDEP), state, and federal (EPA) agencies, such as NJDEP Water Allocation, Safe Drinking Water, Treatment Works Approvals, and Discharge Permits.
• Familiarize with local, state, and federal funding programs for water and wastewater infrastructure improvements, including New Jersey Infrastructure Bank (I-Bank), NJEIT Programs, and USDA Rural Development.
• Plan, schedule, and conduct engineering work on projects of small, medium, and large-scale complexity.
• Correspond with clients on project activities, provide quality client services, and support business development opportunities.
• Prepare technical design studies, reports, and construction contract bid documents for municipal, utility authority, or private water and sewer systems.
• Monitor project budgets, schedules, and work progress; prepare financial status reports.
• Mentor entry and mid-level staff and conduct performance reviews for direct reports.
• Estimate quantities and costs of materials, equipment, or labor to determine project feasibility and budgets.
• Analyze data, aerial photography, maps, topographic or geologic survey information, and utility systems to prepare reports, drawings, and specifications for publicly bid or privately solicited infrastructure proposals.
• Provide technical guidance and advice to clients regarding evaluation, design, and construction of projects.
• Assist clients in developing and prioritizing their capital improvement programs.
• Understand client needs and cross-sell FPA’s services.

Requirements

• 10+ years of Water and/or Wastewater Engineering experience.
• Familiarity with MS Office 365, computer-aided design tools (Autodesk’s AutoCAD and Revit/BIM), and Esri’s ArcGIS.
• Experience with Bentley’s hydraulics and hydrology software (OpenFlows WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS/CAD) or revalize’s Pipe-Flo is a plus.
