About the Role
French & Parrello Associates is seeking a talented, energetic, and self-motivated Project Manager with a background in Wastewater Engineering to join our team in Wall Township, NJ. The role involves working on a vast array of infrastructure projects, including facilities planning, design, permitting, regulatory compliance, funding assistance, bid phase services, and construction-phase engineering. Projects may serve municipalities, local and regional utility authorities, water and sewer utilities, or private utility clients.
The range of services includes:
- Water: Master planning studies, rate studies, hydraulic modeling, water supply (hydrogeological studies), transmission, storage, distribution, treatment, lead service line evaluation/replacement, and treatment innovations for emerging contaminants like PFAS.
- Wastewater: Regional watershed and wastewater management planning, collection/conveyance systems (pump stations, force mains), odor/corrosion control, treatment facilities, and outfalls.
Responsibilities
- Support the Director, Client Account Leaders, and other Project Managers in client engagement, business development, staff management, and project delivery (on time, on budget, and to client satisfaction).
- Communicate effectively with peers, clients, project teams, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to advance project discussions.
- Develop and implement engineering solutions for water/wastewater infrastructure maintenance, improvement, or construction.
- Navigate regulations and permitting requirements (e.g., NJDEP Water Allocation, Safe Drinking Water, Treatment Works Approvals, Discharge Permits).
- Familiarity with funding programs (e.g., NJ Infrastructure Bank, USDA Rural Development).
- Plan, schedule, and execute engineering work on small to large-scale projects of moderate complexity.
- Correspond with clients, provide quality service, and support business development.
- Prepare technical design studies, reports, and construction contract bid documents for municipal, utility, or private water/sewer systems.
- Monitor project budgets, schedules, and progress; prepare financial status reports.
- Mentor entry- and mid-level staff and conduct performance reviews.
- Estimate project costs (materials, equipment, labor) and analyze feasibility.
- Analyze data, aerial photography, maps, surveys, and utility systems to prepare reports, drawings, and specifications for public/private bidding.
- Provide technical guidance to clients on project evaluation, design, and construction.
- Assist clients in developing and prioritizing capital improvement programs.
- Understand client needs and cross-sell FPA’s services.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in Water and/or Wastewater Engineering.
- Bachelor of Science in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited); Master’s degree preferred.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (NJ, NY, and/or PA) or ability to acquire PE through reciprocity; BCEE certification preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office 365, AutoCAD, Revit (BIM), and Esri ArcGIS; experience with Bentley OpenFlows or Pipe-Flo is a plus.
