About the role

Program-level leader responsible for overseeing the daily field operations of the Transit Ambassador Program and setting operational goals and schedule requirements in alignment with the collective bargaining agreement. Develops deployment strategies based on Metro's safety priorities and service needs. Approves staffing and special event plans, monitors Ambassador staff field performance, and oversees response protocols for daily incidents to ensure consistent service quality. Reviews and provides final approval of Ambassador reports. Monitors field activities to ensure Ambassadors are assigned to high-need locations and maintain operational continuity across shifts. Responds to program customer comments and complaints. Manages program compliance with program policies and procedures. Provides oversight of a dedicated zone to address repeated concerns, hot spots, emerging trends, and other key issues. Manages matters relating to compliance with the collective bargaining agreement to resolve grievance issues and ensures that all staff are held accountable for their performance.

Responsibilities

  • Manages various aspects of a project which may include finances, research, design, technical support, schedules, budget compliance, planning, and agency reporting.
  • Oversees the development of project specifications and requirements.
  • Manages a project's scheduling, prioritization of work, budget development, monitoring, planning, and reporting.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and interprets contract specifications and scope of work documents to ensure conformance with requirements, regulations, codes, policies, procedures, and plans.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and monitors actual project performance to ensure conformance with scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Attends progress meetings with members of the project team to report on status.
  • Identifies problems and recommends resolutions to budget, cost, and schedule-related activities.
  • Prepares reports for management.
  • Participates in project outreach.
  • Coordinates with various stakeholders.
  • Communicates and implements safety rules, policies, and procedures in support of the agency's safety vision and goals; maintains accountability for the safety performance of all subordinate employees.

Requirements

A combination of education and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Additional experience, as outlined below, may be substituted for required education on a year-for-year basis. A typical combination includes:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Planning, Public Administration, Political Science, or a related field.
  • Six years of relevant experience or three years of relevant supervisory-level experience in project management, project funding and financing, or project delivery.
  • A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications (PQs) identify relevant knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) as determined by business necessity. These criteria are not intended to serve as minimum requirements for the position but will support selection decisions.

  • Experience developing deployment plans, including schedule and vacation bidding.
  • Experience utilizing data reporting tools and systems to monitor, analyze, and report on emerging trends in the field and within staff.
  • Experience demonstrating excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to interpret policies and provide guidance to supervisors and employees.
  • Experience interpreting and applying Human Resources policies and collective bargaining agreements.

  • Recommend action plans, report on progress, review and comment on contract-required documents, and respond to requests from executive management.
  • Compile, analyze, and interpret complex data.
  • Negotiate contract terms.
  • Determine strategies to achieve goals.
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English.
