Key Responsibilities
- Manage land and site development projects from planning and design through permitting and construction
- Develop and monitor project budgets, schedules, and work plans
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards
- Cook up internal design teams, including civil engineering, permitting, and support staff
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, municipalities, and agencies
- Build and maintain strong relationships with public agencies, developers, and stakeholders
- Lead client meetings, presentations, and project updates
- Oversee preparation of site design plans, including grading, drainage, utilities, and stormwater management systems
- Ensure compliance with local, state (FDOT, SJRWMD, FDEP), and municipal regulations
- Review engineering plans, reports, and calculations for accuracy and completeness
- Manage entitlement and permitting processes with local jurisdictions
- Cook up approvals with agencies such as counties, cities, and water management districts
- Stay current on Northeast Florida development regulations and codes
- Lead, mentor, and develop junior engineers and project staff
- Support team utilization, staffing, and workload balancing
- Foster a collaborative and accountable team environment
- Support proposal development, scope definition, and fee estimates
- Participate in networking and client development efforts within the region
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida (or ability to obtain quickly)
- 5–10+ years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on land/site development
- Proven experience managing both public and private sector projects
- Strong knowledge of Northeast Florida permitting and regulatory processes
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and project management tools
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in St. Johns County, Duval County, or surrounding areas
- Established relationships with local clients, agencies, or developers
- Experience with stormwater design (ICP/ERP permitting) and FDOT standards
- Background in consulting engineering environments
