About the role

The Project Manager is part of a cross-disciplinary project team, responsible for the schedule, budget, and customer management required for successful and on-time completion of parcel system upgrade and integration projects. They work closely with their project management and engineering peers, electrical installation teams, various support roles, and our customers. They may serve as a mentor to their peers yet are not expected to have any direct reports.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of designated projects to ensure that goals and objectives of projects are accomplished within prescribed time, scope, and budget constraints.
  • Reads proposals and scope of work for a system and gains an understanding of what is required, seeking any necessary clarifications on scope of work, timing, or budget issues at the beginning of the project and as issues arise.
  • Responsible for ensuring the quality of goods and services to both internal and external customers.
  • Develops and tracks a project execution plan that represents the customers' schedule.
  • Procures all materials in accordance with dock dates required to achieve the plan and coordinates shipment of project materials to the jobsite.
  • Schedules and attends all internal and external project meetings necessary to keep all team members and stakeholders informed and on task to project plans.
  • Initiates and manages change orders driven by changes in project scope.
  • Keeps the customer informed of project status through weekly meetings and written updates. Proactively communicates project status to customers through consistent, accurate, and timely weekly written updates, ensuring transparency on schedule, scope, risks, and milestones.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for customers, promoting open, solution-oriented communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborates closely with Sales and internal stakeholders to identify, communicate, and resolve potential project risks, scope changes, and cost impacts before they affect customer expectations.
  • Manages subcontractors and their purchase orders, schedule, workflow, invoicing, change orders.
  • Facilitates submitting drawings and information to the customer.
  • Tracks submittal returns and distribution of information.
  • Log and track open issues between Kasa and the customer or other external stakeholders.
  • Defines customer buy-off expectations for the end of the project.
  • Provides industry update information to the Program Manager on projects.
  • Initiates invoicing to customers and from subcontractors in accordance with contract terms.
  • Completes monthly bonding report and participates in monthly Project Performance Reviews (PPR's).
  • Participates in department huddles, scheduling meetings, and engineering meetings.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED required.
  • Two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in related management or technical field preferred.
  • Experience in management of industrial construction projects preferred.
  • Experience in technical field related to industrial systems and processes preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook required.
  • Project Management Certification preferred.

Qualifications

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instruction, either written or verbal, diagrams or schedules.
  • Maintains an acceptable driving record (MVR).
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with peers and subordinates in a one-on-one and/or group setting.
  • Ability to work with fractions and decimals, converting them back and forth.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team.
  • Ability to multi-task in a high-paced environment.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail a must.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize time and various projects.
  • Ability to work with confidential data.
  • Skills in organization, prioritization, and time management.
  • Work under stress to meet project deadlines and minute attention to detail.

Work Environment

This position operates in an office and job site setting. It routinely requires using standard office equipment, such as computer, phones, copiers, fax machines, etc. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday 7:30am to 4:30pm, but are project work dependent. Occasional evenings and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Travel is required. Start-ups or job site setting hours will vary based on project and location. On-site startup and commissioning of systems. May involve 10 to 20 hour shifts per day as required to meet specific start-up schedules.

Physical Demands

  • Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to occasionally climb permanent and temporary stairs, climb ladders, negotiate work areas under construction, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally requires use of construction personnel hoists.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Performing this job regularly requires use of hands to finger, handle or feel objects in pocket, tools, or controls, sit, talk, hear, stand.
  • Employee must occasionally lift and/or move heavy weight.
  • Employee must be capable of using tools, and able to help install equipment and make adjustments/modifications to that equipment.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee works on-site at the construction worksite where the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.
  • The noise in this work environment can be moderate to very loud.
