About The Role

Fieldwork Project Manager: York PM
Salary – £40,655 to £46,272
About AOC
AOC is one of the leading, and fastest growing, heritage companies in the UK. With six regional offices across the country, over the last 5 years we have seen our turnover and staff double in size. We are a CIfA Registered Organisation, with accreditations in ISO14001, ISO45001 and ISO9001. 2026 is an exciting year for our York office, with multiple large scale projects already scheduled. As our York office grows, we are looking to recruit a Fieldwork Project Manager to help deliver our extensive portfolio. This senior role will be responsible for the delivery of exciting projects from cradle to grave, including tendering, financial management, site delivery and publication. Our recent projects have been focussed on North and East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire, although we work across the North of England, and these sites have produced significant and fascinating archaeology of Neolithic, Bronze Age, Iron Age, Roman and early Medieval date. We are looking to appoint an ambitious individual who will help us deliver similar projects, and our future vision and growth.

This is an excellent opportunity to further your career in Fieldwork, both by managing them from the office and, occasionally on larger jobs, by running/overseeing projects in the field. You will be required to manage AOC’s wide range of projects from small evaluations to large infrastructure projects. It is vital that you are a good team member with a positive and enthusiastic approach to heritage. You will need to be self-motivating and able to work independently and under your own initiative, and it will be necessary for you to work away from home with overnight stays. You will also be central to training and enthusing those you project manage and line manage. We encourage our team to grow and in these roles you will be supported by senior members of AOC who will assist in improving your skill set and furthering your career using our bespoke Job Aspiration Matrix.
