Project Manager - Federal Construction

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead a ground-up military construction project valued at over $100 million at Fort Johnson, Louisiana. This is a long-term, on-site leadership position overseeing all phases of construction from pre-construction through close-out and warranty. Relocation assistance and per diem arrangements are available for qualified candidates who travel to the site.

Responsibilities

  • Direct all staff assigned to the project, including managers and supervisors overseeing quality, safety, and superintendent functions.
  • Administer the company's prime contract and subcontract agreements.
  • Establish project objectives and performance standards in line with corporate policy and federal requirements.
  • Manage the project budget, financial reporting, and equipment costs to protect the company's interests while maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Pre-qualify bidders, prepare inquiry packages, award contracts, issue change orders, and negotiate extra work claims.
  • Prepare and update the master schedule, oversee cost control and change management systems.
  • Administer the project's Small Business Subcontracting Plan.
  • Lead progress, pre-construction, and pre-award meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with ethics and safety requirements.
  • Provide leadership on risk evaluation and contract negotiations.
  • Oversee the quality assurance and quality control program.
  • Manage project close-out and post-construction warranty matters.
  • Provide estimating support to the division as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing federal and/or private construction projects.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction cost control, scheduling, estimating, purchasing, and engineering principles.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with relevant computer applications, including project scheduling software.
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Military engineering experience (Army Corps of Engineers, Air Force RED HORSE, Navy SEABEE, or similar).
  • Experience administering a Small Business Subcontracting Plan.
  • Experience with ground-up construction projects valued at $100 million or more.

Pay

$100,000 to $140,000 base salary, plus a $3,500 monthly per diem for qualified traveling candidates.

Schedule

Full time, on site at Fort Johnson, LA.
