You’ll be responsible for all contractual aspects of construction projects, including client communication, scheduling, cost control, and subcontractor management.
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary contact with the customer.
- Understand and manage the project scope, including specifications, drawings, budget, and specific scope of work.
- Maintain the contractual relationship with the erector (if under scope), including writing and managing the erector Binder Agreement, reviewing and writing change orders, and overseeing back charges and onsite coordination.
- Prepare and maintain a detailed project schedule covering drawing approvals, shop issues, deliveries, buyout items, and onsite erection.
- Submit pay applications to the client and track all payments.
- Ensure technical submittals and RFIs are handled by the Project Coordinator and addressed in a timely manner.
- Review detailing and vendor submittals for accuracy and scope.
- Coordinate and oversee scope changes, working with the client, detailer, fabrication shop, and erector, and provide direction to all parties involved.
- Write and maintain a weekly project report to document and communicate status and progress to the client.
- Work overtime as required to meet deadlines.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience with steel fabrication and erection.
- Familiarity with AISC and OSHA requirements.
- Detail-oriented with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Understanding of the financial aspects of construction projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project.
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to sit for long periods and travel to off-site jobs.
