Responsibilities
- Oversee the overall construction and closeout phases of projects.
- Develop and implement the construction schedule with the entire project team.
- Review cost reports against budget, suggest solutions for variances, and communicate findings to management.
- Accountable for monthly project team meeting (PTM) reporting.
- Schedule and conduct project meetings and manage the project closeout process.
- Facilitate schedule creation, maintenance, and compliance.
- Collaborate with the on-site construction team to ensure thorough plan and specification review.
- Complete the procurement and project buyout process.
- Maintain key customer relationships and provide insight into the RFP process while working closely with Business Development.
- Actively participate in community and industry events to build professional networks and promote Knutson Construction.
- Deliver the Knutson Experience on each project.
- Identify and control project risk in coordination with the project team.
- Manage projects to achieve established margin goals.
- Review and understand contract documents, reporting exposures to management.
- Enforce and support project safety policies and practices.
- Develop and implement quality assurance/quality control policies and practices with the project team.
- Oversee the operations side of the preconstruction process under the leadership of the preconstruction department.
- Communicate job responsibilities and performance expectations to ensure mutual understanding of desired results; resolve barriers to successful goal achievement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of commercial general contracting experience.
- Knowledge of project management and accounting applications.
- Experience with owner contract negotiations and contract-related risk.
- Proven track record of holding sub-contractors and project teams accountable.
- Ability to identify and resolve quality and construction issues.
- Knowledge of permitting processes and ability to procure timely permits based on project schedules.
- Demonstrated ability to manage project financials.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
Construction-related certifications and trainings are highly desirable.
