About the role

As a Project Manager you will manage both projects and personnel and help WSB continue to grow our Construction Services presence. The ideal candidate would have a strong Construction / Contract Administration background and be able to develop, manage and lead a team of field staff, have a knowledge of design standards, and generate business to grow opportunities for WSB.

You will provide project management, oversight, and administration on a variety of Federal, State, County, and City construction projects and contracts, along with being involved in the proposal development process, staff scheduling, and management. The role includes both office and field contract administration duties such as plan development, interpretation, budget management, schedule management, record keeping, change negotiations, quality control, and project documentation.

Responsibilities will include contact with clients, residents, contractors, public agencies, and private owners. You must be able to read and understand contracts, plans, special provisions, and documents related to roadway and bridge construction, and have a functional understanding of contract administration and project management software. Knowledge of State & Federal Contract Administration processes and procedures is essential.

You will be part of WSB’s Construction and Design Build Services Group, helping manage and deliver successful projects while performing field visits, verifying compliance with plans and specifications, preparing pay estimates, and producing project documentation for private, municipal, county, MNDOT, and federal projects. The position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of project delivery methods including Design Build, CMGC, ID/IQ, and conventional Bid/Build projects.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in proposal development, staff scheduling, and management

  • Engage with clients, residents, contractors, public agencies, and private owners
  • Read and understand contracts, plans, special provisions, and construction documents
  • Perform field visits to verify compliance with plans and specifications
  • Prepare pay estimates and project documentation
  • Work on various project delivery methods (Design Build, CMGC, ID/IQ, Bid/Build)

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related program from an accredited institution
  • Licensed in the State of Minnesota or ability to obtain licensure within 6 months
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Ten or more years of experience with knowledge of material properties, MNDOT specifications, and contract administration practices
  • Prior design/build experience preferred
  • NDDOT/County Road and Bridge construction experience highly preferred
  • MNDOT Technical Certifications preferred
  • Experience with project management, client management, and staff management
  • Willingness to travel as needed
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs periodically
  • Comfortable working in all weather conditions and uneven terrain, slopes, confined spaces, or reinforced trenches
  • Ability to work with hands, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
