Project Manager - Construction
About the Role
We’re looking for a Project Manager who is accountable, collaborative, and relentlessly thorough — based in Kearney, running projects across Central Nebraska, and helping establish what MCL stands for in this market. The real job is earning trust — project by project, client by client, across a region that's watching.
Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of commercial projects from kickoff through closeout.
- Drive execution against schedule, budget, and quality benchmarks — no exceptions.
- Anticipate risk before it becomes a problem and make decisions that protect the project.
- Partner closely with superintendents, owners, architects, and internal teams to keep everyone moving in the same direction.
- Manage contracts, cost controls, documentation, and reporting with precision.
- Hold stakeholders accountable and communicate proactively — no surprises.
- Build and strengthen client relationships across Kearney, Grand Island, Hastings, North Platte, and the broader central Nebraska market — relationships that drive repeat work and long-term partnerships.
- Represent MCL as we grow our presence in central Nebraska — help shape the reputation and culture of an office that’s just getting started.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Architectural preferred).
- 8+ years of commercial construction experience, with 3+ years in a Project Manager role.
- Experience managing large-scale commercial construction projects a strong plus.
- Strong command of budgets, contracts, and project controls.
- Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with GMP and CMAR delivery methods is a strong plus.
- You lead with accountability — you own outcomes, not just tasks.
- Detail-oriented and disciplined; cost and schedule are never an afterthought.
- A collaborative leader who builds trust across teams quickly and committed to safety and quality.
Our Values
We hire for character as much as credentials. These four traits define the people who succeed at MCL:
- Passionate — you care deeply about the work, the craft, and the people around you. This is more than a job to you.
- Dedicated — you show up fully every day. When things get hard—and they will—you stay engaged.
- Thorough — details matter. You don't hand something off or close it out until it's done right.
- Respectful — you treat the owner, the sub, the laborer, and everyone in between with respect. It's not situational here—it's the standard.
About MCL Construction

This is a ground-floor opportunity to join a growing office in Kearney, serving clients across a region that’s hungry for the kind of quality and trust MCL is known for. You’ll have real influence here. The decisions you make, the relationships you build, and the work you deliver will define what MCL means in central Nebraska for years to come.
