Project Manager, Bureau of IT Infrastructure and Support Services
About the role
The Division of Information Technology's mission is to promote and protect the health of all New Yorkers through innovative technology and health information. The Bureau of IT Infrastructure and Support Services (IIS) provides critical infrastructure services to the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH).
Responsibilities
- Coordinate, triage, and manage infrastructure related requests and projects.
- Liaise with requesters to gather requirements and ensure the needs are met.
- Research, propose, and implement enhancements to the IT infrastructure to meet agency objectives.
- Monitor network and systems performance and resource utilization, ensuring system availability and reliability.
- Perform capacity planning.
- Establish, maintain, and report on service level agreements for Infrastructure systems and services.
- Develop relationships with key business leaders to identify gaps in services and propose solutions to close the gaps.
- Research and recommend solutions and tools; perform proof of concepts and vendor comparisons, offer solutions aligned with business requirements.
Requirements
- A four-year high school diploma or its equivalent, or education and experience equivalent to "1" above.
- Graduation from a certified technical training program in computer maintenance and repair may be substituted for one year of the general experience.
- Experience of the type described in "1" above may be substituted for high school on the basis of one year of experience for each year of high school.
- All candidates must have the one year of supervisory experience as described in "1" above.
Qualifications
- Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" above.

Skills
- 5+ years of experience in lead technical roles in areas such as SAN infrastructure, server virtualization, Windows Active Directory administration, Linux system administration, business continuity, disaster recovery, network administration, and information & infrastructure security.
- In-depth knowledge of best practices in network infrastructure design, standard network protocols, common network services, network management systems, and troubleshooting tools.

Minimum Qualifications: A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's Department of Education or recognized accrediting organization and four years of satisfactory, full-time experience in computer maintenance and repair, one year of which must have been in the supervision of staff performing computer maintenance and repair; or Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" above. Graduation from a certified technical training program in computer maintenance and repair may be substituted for one year of the general experience. Experience of the type described in "1" above may be substituted for high school on the basis of one year of experience for each year of high school. However, all candidates must have the one year of supervisory experience as described in "1" above.
