Project Manager 1
Convergint is looking for a full-time, enthusiastic, results-driven, and forward-thinking Project Manager to join our team. You will be responsible for all aspects of assigned projects, ensuring they are executed effectively within budgeted cost and time schedules while maintaining positive cash flow. This role serves as the key interface with customers, maximizing satisfaction, safety, and quality assurance.

Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of assigned projects (typically valued up to $1M) from award through completion, including overall site management for successful and timely delivery within budget.
- Prepare and manage project installation plans, job procedures, and implementation strategies.
- Translate customer needs into detailed proposals and project implementation plans; review and approve estimated costs prior to bid; engage in contract negotiation.
- Provide technical assistance to the sales force; supervise project design engineering, installation labor, and subcontractors.
- Prepare project schedules, subcontracts, change proposals, project invoices, and assist with collections.
- Maintain accurate records of job status, changes, material flow, and other control records for internal and external reporting.
- Act as “our customer’s best service provider” to ensure Convergint remains the customer’s first choice for service.
- Identify potential project risks and develop strategies to minimize impact and control deviations from estimated costs and deadlines.
- Proactively communicate project schedules, changes, and activities to customers while continuously improving satisfaction.
- Manage procurement of materials, supplies, and services to ensure timely and cost-effective project completion.
- Analyze project costs, review actual vs. estimated job costs, and adjust plans or estimates as necessary to meet financial goals.
- Manage execution and review of all scope of work, terms, and conditions in customer contracts, including cost control and quality standards.
- Oversee subcontractor selection and work; manage direct reports, if applicable.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- Project management experience in a technical environment (e.g., building automation systems, fire alarm systems, electronic security systems, AV systems).
- Coaching, mentoring, and staff development skills with a strong leadership orientation.
- Team leadership, team building, and facilitation skills.
- Proactive and adaptable, with the ability to influence others and build consensus using strong written and verbal communication.
- Strong analytical and conflict resolution skills.
- Financial analytical skills, including cost control.
- Basic ability to facilitate a collaborative working environment for customers and team members.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Basic knowledge of IT networking principles.
- Knowledge of security systems and access control.
Qualifications
- Education: College degree, trade school, or equivalent experience; Associate’s degree in Engineering or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant engineering, field service, or project management experience.
- Experience in one or more of the following industries: electronic, fire alarm & life safety, building automation, and/or AV systems (required).
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous project supervisory experience.
- Project Management Institute (PMI) certification or industry-specific certifications/licenses.
