Project Management Support SME

This position is located in Bethesda, MD and requires an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.

About the role

VTG is seeking a Project Management Support Subject Matter Expert to assist government clients with strategic planning, portfolio management, and decision-making support.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze IT portfolio of programs, their associated capabilities, and services.
• Support the evolution of the Sponsor’s strategic direction and priorities.
• Make recommendations to aid sponsor decision-making, including proposed strategies and/or roadmaps; identified risks, capability and performance gaps, and dependencies; alignment with the strategic framework and priorities; and funding and related program issues.
• Assist government clients with programmatic goals and objectives, schedules, and reports to senior-level executives.
• Communicate technical topics in a non-technical manner to senior-level audiences.
• Collaborate extensively across multiple entities, including partners outside the US.
• Produce deliverables in multiple formats (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Take charge of a group and set strategic guidance for a team of SMEs.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.
• Typically requires a BA degree and 12–15 years of prior relevant experience or a Masters with 10–13 years of prior relevant experience.
• Strong writing and grammatical skills for drafting products.
• Knowledge of portfolio, program, and project management discipline.
• Familiarity with planning, programming, budgeting, and execution discipline.
• Knowledge of key performance indicators.
• Strong analytical competence, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to provide audience-appropriate written and verbal communications and demonstrate strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Experience working with seniors in diverse, fast-paced, multi-task environments managing competing priorities.

Pay

VTG’s estimated starting pay range is $190,000–$220,000 annually, which is a general guideline for the geographic location. When extending an offer, VTG also considers work experience, education, skill level, market considerations, and may include contractual requirements that could adjust the offer outside this range.
