Job Summary

The Project Lead - Structured Cabling acts as the on-site coordinator and supervisor of several Crew Leads - Structured Cabling for voice and data installation projects, ensuring job completion meets company and customer quality and safety requirements while maintaining staff efficiency.

General Job Duties And Responsibilities

  • Runs major project crews, takes responsibility for crew performance, and provides necessary training
  • Ensures adherence to Company and customer safety and quality guidelines; holds weekly safety meetings
  • Initiates performance-related communications and escalates to the Project Manager as needed
  • Captures productivity, job completion, and budget compliance through coordination with the Project Manager
  • Completes all IES Commercial and project paperwork accurately and on time, including timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, and tool transfers
  • Performs quality checks, coordinates moves, and prepares cut sheets for voice and data cross-connects; prepares red-lined as-built drawings
  • Serves as the main on-site customer contact and attends facility and construction meetings as required
  • Demonstrates strong technical knowledge and troubleshoots/resolves technical issues as they arise
  • Completes other responsibilities as assigned

  • Able to stand and walk large job sites regularly
  • Able to work at various heights, on ladders, and in confined spaces; lift up to 50 lbs and move up to 75 lbs
  • Able to see and distinguish colors, read small print, and recognize audible signals (e.g., dial tones)
  • Able to travel within branch and/or regional territory as needed
  • Regular attendance is mandatory

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in telecommunications or a related technical field
  • Minimum 6 months of supervisory and/or managerial experience
  • Ability to terminate fiber
  • Proficiency with required tools (screwdrivers, drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips, pliers, hammer, cable stripper, punch tools, crimp tools, butt set, volt-ohmmeter, continuity tester, etc.)
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and project documents, including specifications and quality/reporting requirements
  • Knowledge of universal communications color codes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project)

Education, Certification, License, And Skill Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent

Pay

Min USD $25.00/Hr. Max USD $30.00/Hr.
