About the role

The Project Environmental Coordinator will assist Project Management as necessary to maintain environmental compliance. The position will work under the direction of the Project Manager at the construction site.

Responsibilities

  • Assists Project on compliance issues
  • Assists implementation and update of the Site Environmental Management Plan
  • Daily site inspections including preparation of daily reports or logs
  • Affords permit management and implementation
  • Affords coordination of corrective action for compliance deficiencies
  • Spill response and mitigation including assistance with incident reports
  • Affords personnel orientation and training in environmental responsibilities
  • Affords coordination of subcontractor environmental commitments and responsibilities
  • Affords waste storage, handling, and disposal management assistance according to regulations
  • Affords petroleum storage and handling oversight including fuel storage tanks, drums and containers, lubricants, and other petroleum by-products
  • Affords assistance with additional environmental responsibilities as may be required
  • Affords assistance with animal and endangered species control
  • Affords material recordkeeping and storage oversight including Flammable Storage Cabinets
  • Others duties as assigned in support of the project or corporate initiatives

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED
  • Personable and able to work with all levels of construction project crafts and management personnel to successfully coordinate and complete work requirements
  • Self-starter able to take charge with minimum supervision
  • Advanced training or education in Environmental or Technical Field
  • Knowledgeable of the many construction project site environmental compliance issues and applicable regulations including but not limited to Storm Water Best Management Practices; Spill Prevention and Management, wetlands, process water control, waste storage and disposal, and fuel storage
  • Computer skills in MS Office Suite: Word, Excel, etc
  • Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or in a related technical discipline

Physical Demands

Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting. Will talk and hear to communicate. Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull: objects, materials, controls and tools. May be required to lift, carry and move up to 50lbs. Will work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, work off of platforms and man lifts, and may occasionally work out on an open structure using the appropriate fall protection requirements. Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and leather work boots.

Work Environment

Will work in all weather conditions ranging from warm/hot - cool/cold. Occasional rain. Will work at different elevations. May be required to work in close, confined spaces for a long period of time. Noise levels will be moderate to high.
