Project Engineer - Simulation Training

About the role

This Project Engineer role supports simulation training programs used to prepare military pilots and maintainers, based in Binghamton, New York. The company designs and builds simulation and training systems for defense and government customers, with more than 75 years in the industry.

Occasional overtime, weekend, or shift work and CONUS travel are required based on program needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering execution for an assigned simulation training program, coordinating across integrated product teams (IPTs).
• Drive major technical events such as design reviews, peer reviews, and program milestones.
• Own engineering scope, cost, schedule, and risk, using Cost Account Management (CAM) reviews to maintain execution discipline.
• Interface regularly with senior program engineering management, company leadership, and DoD or government customer stakeholders.
• Identify technical risks early, recommend data-driven solutions, and support process and technology improvements that strengthen program performance.

Requirements

• Active DoD Secret or higher security clearance, granted or renewed within the last five years.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience, plus 8+ years of technical or project leadership experience.
• Earned Value Management (EVM) experience across cost, schedule, and technical performance.
• Engineering lifecycle experience, including requirements, design, build, test, and delivery.
• Experience working in both Traditional and Agile program environments.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and risk management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior defense or military experience.
• Familiarity with DevSecOps practices.
