About the role
The Project Engineer develops and executes test plans, test processes, and test schedules for AISIN Body Electronic Control Units (ECUs) on assigned projects, covering both component-level (physical, simulation, HIL) and vehicle-level evaluations. The role serves as the primary contact with customers, internal evaluation teams, and external laboratories to ensure all tests are completed and results are reported accurately.
Responsibilities
- Analyze customer and internal product requirements to develop test artifacts, ensuring all project deliverables are met on schedule and providing reports to stakeholders.
- Support the development and execution of test plans in compliance with customer, AISIN, and federal requirements and standards.
- Investigate and document test failures, providing feedback to project teams through assessment reports and recommendations.
- Review and report all testing data, ensuring traceability to test requirements.
- Support the design and development of test infrastructure hardware and software, including test fixtures, test harnesses, software user interfaces, ECU interface boards, and test setup manuals.
- Support production and engineering teams in troubleshooting issues, data collection, and data analysis, reporting findings to development teams as needed.
- Attend internal and external customer meetings and reviews as required.
- Support continuous improvement projects, validation methods, and processes.
- Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
- Experience in automotive systems testing and validation.
- Experience in HIL test development (Vector suite preferred – CANoe, Canalyzer, vTestStudio).
- Strong knowledge of automotive bus protocols (CAN-FD, CAN, LIN, SAE J2602).
- Familiarity with measurement instrumentation and data acquisition tools (Vector CANape, DMM, Oscilloscopes, NI-DAQs, etc.).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated complex technical problem-solving skills (knowledge of RedX, 5 Why, Fishbone).
- Working knowledge of ADVP&R process.
- Proficient in MS Office suite.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Skills
- C/C++ programming experience (beneficial).
- Experience in model development using MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow or other modeling tools (beneficial).
- Working knowledge of automotive standards (ISO/IEC, FMVSS, GMW3172, GMW3097) (beneficial).
- Basic understanding of ASPICE, CMMI, and ISO/TS 16948 processes (beneficial).
- Working knowledge of V-Process, Agile, etc. (beneficial).
- Knowledge of project management tools such as Jira and Confluence (beneficial).
