Project Engineer- Decommissioning Project

Kelly Engineering is seeking a Project Engineer for a 6 month shutdown/decommissioning project of 2 plant facilities in the Kansas City area. The Project Engineer will work directly with site leadership to coordinate, and execute the safe and systematic isolation of services, utilities, and equipment. The focus is on ensuring all systems and assets are shut down and documented correctly ahead of decommissioning or removal. Key Responsibilities Lead the shutdown and isolation of various facility services (e.g., HVAC, water, electrical, gases)Review technical documents and utility diagrams to ensure a smooth and risk-free shutdown processInvolvement in supervising vendors or contractors for specific disconnect and isolation tasksManage and complete all required documentation to reflect the shutdown status of equipment and systemsCoordinate updates to maintenance management software (SAP or equivalent) to retire assets, close out maintenance tasks, and update inventoriesVerify all systems reach a zero-energy state before passing on to decommissioning or removal teamsResponsible for regular status updates, highlight progress and issues, and act as a point of contact for vendors and stakeholders Qualifications Experience in Project, Plant, Utilities or Maintenance Engineering/LeadershipStrong understanding of facility/mechanical/electrical systemsAbility to manage safety and energy control protocols such as Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) What Happens Next Once you apply, you’ll proceed to next steps if your skills and experience look like a good fit.
