About the role
Infrastructure Engineering Inc. (IEI) New York and New Jersey Offices are looking for an experienced Project Engineer - Civil to join their Team for a project in Manhattan!
We are a leading engineering firm known for quality, responsiveness, and a proven track record of success as a Prime civil engineering firm.
Essential Responsibilities/Experience and Skills
- At Least two (2) years of relevant highway/site design experience, and a total of 4 years engineering design experience
- Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D software application
- Experience preparing contract documents, specifications, and estimates
- Familiarity with AASHTO and/or similar guidelines
- Conducts constructability reviews and assists in the design/planning/review of civil engineering design projects
- Collaborates with other disciplines and other departments
- Market the firm's capabilities within the civil engineering specialty to establish new clients and enhance relationships with existing clients
- May supervise civil engineering and support personnel; evaluates performance; assigns and schedules work; establish project priorities and standards
- Performs QA/QC of plans, calculations, specifications, and quantities as per IEI QA/QC plan
- Serves as a public relations ambassador - Be proactive in presenting and communicating the capabilities and strengths of the company to the public
- Takes the initiative in developing and/or refining existing templates and procedures to streamline effort for the entire team
- Takes time to train and mentor colleagues on acquired skill sets to improve overall team quality and performance
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering college or university
- At least seven (7) years of relevant civil design experience. Project management may be considered relevant depending on the nature of work
- Professional Engineering (PE) License in either New York or New Jersey required
- Proven leadership skills with engineering staff and organizations
- Strong team player in a multi-disciplinary environment who can work on and contribute to several projects simultaneously
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form
- Familiarity of various forms of construction project delivery methods (i.e – DBB, DB, etc.)
- Ability to read and understand contract documents including drawings, specifications and provisions of work
- Familiarity with Port Authority Civil Design Guidelines, federal/state/local regulations and typical codes and standards
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints
- Valid driver’s license
- Proficient communication skills and use of common software applications including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook)

Physical Demands
- Usually works a standard 40-hour workweek either daytime or nighttime
- Usually works in outside weather conditions
Work Environment
- Usually works in an office work environment that is usually moderate in noise level
- Works on a construction site where the noise level is often loud and may require hearing protection
Pay Range
$110,000 - $140,000 per year
