Project Coordinator/Construction Manager

Job Summary

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Assisting in management of all construction activities that are associated with Darling Ingredients and any of its subsidiaries.
• Assisting in the selection or procurement of plant equipment and listing supplies necessary for the construction of plants or facilities operated by Darling.
• Procuring, supervising, and ensuring the safety of sub-contractors hired to help in the construction of facilities or buildings.
• Supervising Darling employees used to construct or install equipment.
• Aiding in the start-up of installed equipment.
• Maintaining tools and equipment owned by Darling and utilized by oneself or others under his supervision or co-workers.
• Communicating with plant management on the proper operation of equipment.
• Aiding construction managers on job costs and tracking.
• Overseeing on-the-job contractors in "hands-on" fabrication of equipment, including cutting, welding, installation, and equipment layout.
• Ensuring the safe operations of all equipment and tools on all jobs at plants or facilities owned by Darling.

Minimum Qualifications

• A high school diploma is required.
• A college degree in a related field is preferred.
• A minimum of 3+ years of experience in construction/project management is required.
• Millwright experience in addition to rendering experience is preferred.
• A good general mechanical background is preferred.
• A good working relationship with others and a team player are preferred.
• A professional manner and attitude are mandatory.

Physical Demands

• Occasionally lift 100 lbs.
• Frequently twist, tug, pull and stretch.
• Occasionally climb and work above ground up to 50 ft.
• Frequently walk, sit, reach, bend, kneel, crouch, and stoop.
• Frequently work indoors and outdoors in a plant environment and/or in a personal vehicle as required.
• Temperature will fluctuate depending on outside conditions.
• Sometimes work in greasy locations for mechanical repairs.
