Provides direct services and support for participants in the California Violence Intervention & Prevention Project (CalVIP). Liaises with case managers, educational partners, and employers to support education-to-employment pathways for individuals with former criminal-justice involvement.
Responsibilities
- Provide trauma-informed, participant-centered case management of CalVIP participants.
- Cultivate relationships with project participants to build trust and support from enrollment through program completion.
- Guide participants through available services including vocational training, work readiness training, and advocacy for needed services.
- Maintain active and regular contact with participants to gather data about their needs and performance outcomes.
- Provide training to reduce barriers to program completion.
- Support participants in overcoming historical barriers to employment, such as acquiring educational credentials, transportation, work-related clothing/tools, record expungement, physical/health issues, technological challenges, and child support payments.
- Collaboratively construct personal development plans, identify needed resources, and make appropriate referrals.
- Monitor participants’ progress toward goals, address challenges, and provide ongoing support.
- Liaise with existing case managers or referral partners to ensure a warm hand-off into the CalVIP project.
- Coordinate with CalVIP Finance Specialist or Project Director to ensure eligibility, fund availability, or fund utilization.
- Liaise with External Evaluator to maintain or acquire data points, coordinate interviews, or assess project satisfaction.
- Develop relationships with potential employer organizations within the Los Angeles community that may hire certified Amity Works students and graduates.
- Coordinate intake, eligibility, and aptitude/interest assessment of prospective CalVIP participants.
- Provide job readiness services, including mock interviewing and coaching on appropriate disclosure of criminal justice involvement or parole status.
- Prepare, review, and update individual service plans (ISP) for participants assigned to caseload.
- Monitor participants’ progress relative to their ISP through all phases of the program.
- Document all progress and services provided in case files, including relevant employment data.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with Project Director, BSCC liaisons, education, and employer partners.
- Provide employment services including resume writing, mock interviews, time management, workplace relationship coaching, and instruction-following.
- Demonstrate cultural competency, community advocacy, and professionalism in representing the Amity Foundation and its project.
- Respond positively to changing demands and priorities within a team-oriented framework.
- Participate in training provided by BCSS and/or the External Evaluation team.
- Participate in in-service training on the background, purpose, and policies of the CalVIP Project.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or a high school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of experience as a job developer or similar position.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a job development or similar position (preferred).
- Basic knowledge and experience with the criminal record expungement process (preferred).
- Lived experience with incarceration, addiction, poverty, foster care, or other systems involvement (considered an asset).

- Excellent public speaking, facilitation, and one-on-one communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal, written communication, and typing skills.
- Ability to change direction as priorities shift and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Ability to professionally handle pressure and work with difficult or temperamental individuals.
- Ability to manage mental and emotional stress related to the position.

- Noise level is moderate but can be loud.

- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when necessary.
- Ability to travel locally as needed.
Pay
$70,000 - $75,000 a year
