About the role

AECOM is seeking an experienced Project Controller to support the Minneapolis, MN architecture and engineering practice. The position can be fully remote, hybrid, or on site at the preference of the applicant. US West Buildings + Places serves a broad market across the western United States and beyond, delivering projects in sectors such as Science & Technology, Advanced Manufacturing, Commercial, Aerospace, Higher Education, Industrial and Process, Transportation, Aviation, Sports, Data Center, and Federal markets.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure assigned client projects meet financial, schedule, and performance targets per client contracts and AECOM expectations.
  • Lead the project controls function on small and large projects across a large portfolio and multiple project managers.
  • Review performance trends, prepare analysis and cost-impact reports, and recommend contractor invoices for approval.
  • Prepare and update cost reports tracking actual and committed costs for subcontractors/vendors against budgets.
  • Update forecasts based on earned value, team discussions, and other tools.
  • Establish project budgets from proposal estimates and assist the Project Manager with project setup and execution.
  • Coordinate with project personnel to develop effective Work Breakdown Structures.
  • Communicate budget, cost, and schedule analyses to the Project Manager and other leaders.
  • Identify issues and successes; develop project recovery plans when required.
  • Lead meetings with internal project teams, Project Approvers, and Finance & Accounting.
  • Assist Project Managers with purchase orders, subcontract agreements, and payment release paperwork.
  • Monitor subcontractor or vendor spending against commitments and budgets; raise issues or concerns.
  • Assist Project Managers with Salesforce entries and updates.
  • Learn basic Federal Contract Requirements to support Project Managers on federal contracts.
  • Liaise with subcontractors regarding progress, schedules, and contract administration.
  • Monitor Key Performance Indicators including earned value, cost and schedule performance, estimate to completion, and project end dates.
  • Track unbilled, invoicing, and aged accounts receivable; report to management.
  • Maintain data quality metrics including forecast end dates and monthly/quarterly estimates to completion.
  • Review client invoices for accuracy and establish invoice schedules per contracting terms.
  • Prepare and submit monthly reports for internal and external clients.
  • Read and understand client contracts and subcontracts, particularly scope, schedule, budget, and risk.
  • Coordinate with the project manager to ensure procedures meet contractual requirements.
  • Communicate with clients about invoicing, payment, contract, and reporting requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience in project controls or demonstrated equivalency.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to the nature of the project work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years of relevant project controls experience in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • Detailed knowledge of project planning and scheduling methods, practices, and earned value.
