About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Architectural Designer / Project Architect with 6 to 8 years of professional experience, including substantial experience with NYC projects, building code, zoning, construction documentation, and consultant coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Take on a senior role across a broad range of project types, including new buildings, adaptive reuse, commercial, retail, mixed-use, and multi-family residential projects.
  • Lead design development, prepare and coordinate construction document sets, resolve technical issues, and manage project responsibilities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Develop and coordinate construction document sets, including plans, sections, details, wall sections, façade detailing, schedules, and consultant information.
  • Coordinate with MEP, structural, civil, façade, lighting, and specialty consultants.
  • Perform zoning and code analysis and translate regulatory requirements into coordinated design and documentation.
  • Conduct construction administration tasks, including shop drawing review, submittals, RFIs, and field coordination.
  • Mentor junior staff and help coordinate internal production workflows.
  • Create design presentation renderings for a variety of commercial project types, including retail, mixed-use, and multi-family residential projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Architecture required; Master of Architecture preferred.
  • Architectural license preferred but not required.
  • Significant experience with NYC projects, including building code, zoning analysis, DOB filing coordination, and construction documentation.
  • Experience with both ground-up construction and adaptive reuse / renovation of existing buildings.
  • Strong design sensibility, graphic judgment, and ability to prepare presentation materials for clients and internal design reviews.
  • Strong organizational, presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Strong technical abilities and sound professional judgment.
  • Experience with drafting software such as AutoCAD LT 2026, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign), 3D modeling software such as Rhino, visualization software such as Enscape, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with Revit is a plus.
  • Experience with DOB NOW, BIS, zoning diagrams, and filing coordination is a plus.

Skills

  • Proficiency in drafting AutoCAD LT 2026.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign).
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling software such as Rhino.
  • Proficiency in visualization software such as Enscape and V-Ray.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
