Project Architect / Project Manager

About the Role

Progress Studio, an Indianapolis-based architecture and interior design firm, is seeking a leader to manage projects end-to-end across dental, healthcare, hospitality, workplace, franchise, and ground-up commercial sectors in Indianapolis, Atlanta, and other regional markets. This role involves owning the schedule, drawing set, and client relationship from programming through construction administration.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and interior design projects from programming through construction administration
• Develop and maintain project schedules, fee tracking, and scope across multiple concurrent projects
• Coordinate structural, MEP, civil, and other consultants to ensure design and documentation alignment
• Review and produce construction documents, ensuring code compliance, accuracy, and buildability
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and permitting officials
• Manage permitting submissions and plan review responses
• Conduct site visits and construction administration, including RFIs, submittal review, and field observations
• Mentor junior staff and support quality control across deliverables

Requirements

• 8+ years in architecture or project management within commercial design and construction (tenant build-out, ground-up, dental, healthcare, and/or hospitality preferred)
• Licensed architect in Indiana or actively pursuing licensure (Project Architect track), with a strong construction, owner's-rep PM, or senior interior design background
• Working knowledge of building codes, zoning, and permitting in Indiana, Georgia, and beyond; multi-jurisdictional experience is a plus
• High proficiency in Revit and experience managing full construction document sets
• Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, schedules, and consultant teams
• Strong written and verbal communication, with direct client-facing experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Dental, medical, veterinary, or franchise build-out experience; interior-architecture-heavy backgrounds a plus
• Familiarity with multi-family and mixed-use work; hospitality experience is beneficial
• Experience with client / project management tools
• NCARB certification, or actively on a path toward licensure
