Project and Policy Analysis Supervisor 2

The MDSH program launched in Fall 2023, offering advanced training in data management, data analytics, statistical modeling, machine learning, and big data computing for public health professionals. Classes are held remotely during the week and in-person one weekend a month at the UCLA campus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the MDSH program, focusing on growth, quality, and efficiency.
• Develop and maintain strategy and sustainable workflows related to admissions, marketing and communications, budgeting and finance, academics and programming, program monitoring and evaluation, and related student services.
• Supervise two full-time staff and several part-time student positions.
• Work with the department, university administration, and academic senate to carry out and apply policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years experience in a lead, supervisory or management role in an academic institution.
• Demonstrated work experience with program development including planning, project management and implementation to accomplish broadly defined goals.
• Experience coordinating academic courses, programs and/or events.
• Experience identifying and implementing monitoring and evaluation approaches to further program quality and strategy.
• Demonstrated marketing and communications experience including printing and production of materials.
• Demonstrated experience in financial analysis, planning, budget preparation, control and monitoring/tracking expenses.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of university or higher education policies and procedures relating to accounting, purchasing, travel, academic & staff personnel, financial management and resource management.
• Expertise in computer software applications including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. Working knowledge of database programs.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail as well as ability to manage multiple projects.
• Ability to maintain positive working relationships with many diverse and multi-cultural audiences at all levels and across UCLA and community partners.
• Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative relationships and productive working relationships with faculty, staff, students, campus entities, outside agencies and the public.
• Excellent critical thinking and strategic management skills; proven ability to synthesize large amounts of complex, qualitative information, formulate and articulate far-reaching policy and procedural recommendations, and produce quality, professional work.
• Proven ability to utilize data from various sources to produce reports and provide detailed analysis for budget preparation and fund management.
• Ability to set and prioritize appropriate short- and long-range organizational and operational goals by utilizing a consultative and/or participative process, seeking input from faculty, staff, students and administrative groups.
• Demonstrated English writing, editing and proofreading skills to produce grammatically correct correspondence and other communications, reports, marketing materials, brochures, newsletters and other documents related to the program.
• Technical knowledge for website and social media design and best practices for the web and social media tools, current and projected trends to monitor and analyze for effective results.

Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or Management or equivalent combination of education and experience (Required).
• Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or Management (Preferred).
