Project Accountant - Construction
About the role
Path Construction is a rapidly growing general contractor headquartered in Arlington Heights, IL with additional offices in Scottsdale, AZ and Charlotte, NC. We provide a wide range of construction services across various sectors including healthcare, hospitality, higher education, multi-family, self-storage, senior living, transportation, water and waste treatment, convention centers, laboratories, and correctional facilities. Responsibilities
- Set up new projects in the Job Cost System
- Process payroll, insurance, and overhead allocations to projects
- Review and track general ledger postings of construction draws for multiple projects
- Ensure Subcontractor/Supplier Waivers of Lien are received and correct
- Avoid compliance issues by ensuring all necessary documents (W-9s, Insurance Certificates, EEO, etc.) are met by Subcontractors and Suppliers
- Manage accounts receivable and ensure positive cash flow
- Assist with special projects as requested
- Process contracts and change orders accurately and timely
- Analyze project variances and work with the project team to implement corrective actions
- Report on project profitability to management
- Work closely with customers to meet their reporting needs
- Close out project accounts upon completion
- Create and submit government reports and tax returns related to projects
- Compile information for external auditors, as needed
Qualifications
- A college degree in accounting/business administration is preferred, but equivalent experience is acceptable
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in a construction project cost environment
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills, capable of interacting with all organizational levels
- Strong PC skills, including proficiency in Excel, Sage Construction CRE 300, and Paychex
Pay
Annual Salary Range: $50,000 - $80,000
