Responsibilities
- Manage project-related accounting activities from initial setup through final closeout, ensuring records remain complete and accurate at every stage.
- Prepare and review cost reports, billings, forecasts, and other financial updates to provide project teams with clear visibility into performance.
- Partner with project managers and operational leaders to analyze financial results, identify trends, and support effective decision-making.
- Monitor work-in-progress activity, contract values, budget changes, and project costs to help maintain financial control across assigned jobs.
- Investigate accounting discrepancies, resolve complex financial issues, and ensure transactions align with company policies and contractual terms.
- Support compliance with accounting standards and internal procedures by reviewing project financial data for accuracy and consistency.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to project accounting staff, helping strengthen team capability and promote best practices.
- Contribute to process improvement efforts within accounting and finance by recommending more efficient and effective ways to manage project financial operations.
Requirements
- Experience in project accounting within the construction or contractor industry.
- Strong understanding of construction financial processes, including job cost tracking, billings, and work-in-progress reporting.
- Proficiency in financial analysis and reporting, with advanced capability in Microsoft Excel.
- Hands-on experience using CMiC or a similar construction accounting system.
- Able to interpret financial information, assess risk, and recommend practical solutions.
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in managing project financial data.
- Educational background in accounting or related field preferred.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
- CPA certification preferred but not required.
