Project Accountant

Job Overview

• Prepare and post journal entries into the general ledger.
• Aid in the intercompany accounting process, ensuring efficiency and accuracy of transactions.
• Analyze and reconcile balance sheet accounts to ensure financial statement accuracy.
• Review and analyze production overhead and general administration accounts for coding accuracy, comparing to forecasts and budgets.

Project Accounting Duties

• Review project cost budgets for Schuff Steel offices, collaborating with project managers as necessary.
• Conduct ASC-606 revenue recognition analysis for new contracts.
• Assess and report on project profitability and variances on a weekly and monthly basis.
• Participate in weekly financial meetings with project managers and operations management.
• Prepare, file, and pay sales and use taxes for multiple jurisdictions.

Education/Training

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited college or university.

Work Experience

• 1-3+ years of experience in accounting.
• Experience with project accounting in a construction environment, a plus.
• Experience in a SOX environment, a plus.

Software & Technology

• Frequent use and knowledge of MS Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, Oracle Cloud, Concur, FloQast (or similar), and Planful.
