About us
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Project Accountant to join our dynamic team in the commercial construction industry. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in managing the financial aspects of our construction projects. You will be responsible for providing accurate, timely, and relevant recording, reporting, and analysis of financial information. You will also work closely with project managers and other team members to ensure the financial health of our projects. This position offers a unique blend of accounting and project management roles and requires a candidate who is not only proficient in accounting but also has a strong understanding of the construction industry.
Responsibilities
- Manage all financial aspects of construction projects, including cost accounting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Prepare and analyze monthly project financial statements for management and project teams.
- Maintain accounts receivable, ensure timely collection of payments, and manage accounts payable including check runs.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure it reflects the financial transactions of each project accurately.
- Use Yardi and Microsoft Project to track project costs, create financial reports, and manage project timelines.
- Collaborate with project managers to develop project budgets, monitor project costs, and ensure projects are completed within budget.
- Identify and implement improvements to processes, systems, and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal budgetary reporting requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a project accounting role within the construction industry.
- Proficient in cost accounting, forecasting, preparing financial statements, managing accounts receivable and payable, and maintaining the general ledger.
- Experience in check runs, Yardi, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Excellent analytical skills, with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to non-financial team members.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal budgetary reporting requirements.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve financial issues promptly.
Pay
$75,000 - $90,000 per year, plus a discretionary performance-based bonus.
