About the role
The Project Accountant at MBD is responsible for supporting the financial execution of projects from kickoff through closeout, collaborating closely with Project Managers and leadership.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the financial integrity of each job by ensuring project accounting is accurate, timely, and aligned with project realities.
- Partner with Project Managers to support financial visibility and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare and manage monthly billings ensuring they are accurate and on time.
- Track billing status, cash flow, and collections.
- Track lien waivers and compliance documentation.
- Maintain accurate job cost reporting and ensure financial data integrity across systems.
- Identify budget variances, missing cost exposure, and reporting inconsistencies.
- Ensure proper documentation is in place, including insurance, lien releases, and related compliance items.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in construction accounting, job cost accounting, or project accounting.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
- Proficiency in accounting and ERP systems; QuickBooks Desktop required, with Innergy, Procore, GC Pay, Textura, or similar platforms considered a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines across active projects.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to partner effectively with Project Managers, leadership, and internal teams.
- Strong organizational discipline and the ability to maintain accurate, audit-ready records.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment.
