Essential Functions And Responsibilities

  • Affords administrative support for the School of Behavioral Sciences.
  • Assists in processing applications to the BSSW and MSW programs.
  • Facilitates the gatekeeping process to help ensure students have a thorough understanding of the profession of social work.
  • Engages students in a self-assessment process to ensure they are a good fit for the program and profession.
  • Develops and maintains the admissions, gatekeeping, and tracking systems.
  • Assists applicants and participates in student interviews to determine readiness for a professional social work program.
  • Advises students to support them through the program.
  • Supports the program through data tracking and analysis.
  • Assists the Chair, Program Director, and Director of Field Education in other programmatic and accreditation matters.
  • Communicates with other teams within the department and other university departments to facilitate collaboration.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills and is able to communicate clearly through oral and written correspondence to students, faculty, staff, and community members.
  • Is professional and graceful while handling multiple projects and interacting with students.
  • Has strong organizational skills and is calm and positive in difficult situations.
  • Works well both independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications And Credentials

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree, plus 2 years of administrative experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent interviewing skills.
  • PREFERRED: Master’s degree plus 2 or more years of administrative experience.
  • Experience in the social work or human services profession.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Interviewing experience.

ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES

  • Communication and Comprehension: Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information.
  • Problem Solving: Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.
  • Physical and Sensory Abilities: Occasional travel to local and campus locations; frequent sitting for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard; occasionally standing, walking, climbing stairs; regularly lifting up to 10 pounds; hearing and speaking to effectively communicate orally; occasionally reaching overhead, kneeling, or stooping; occasionally handling materials.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • The working environment is a climate-controlled office setting.
  • The noise level is moderate.
  • Occasionally required to travel to local and campus locations.
  • Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.
  • Frequently required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building.
  • Regularly required to handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.
  • Regularly lifts up to 10 pounds.

Pay Range

  • $18.27 - $21.63
