Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Affords administrative support for the School of Behavioral Sciences.
- Assists in processing applications to the BSSW and MSW programs.
- Facilitates the gatekeeping process to help ensure students have a thorough understanding of the profession of social work.
- Engages students in a self-assessment process to ensure they are a good fit for the program and profession.
- Develops and maintains the admissions, gatekeeping, and tracking systems.
- Assists applicants and participates in student interviews to determine readiness for a professional social work program.
- Advises students to support them through the program.
- Supports the program through data tracking and analysis.
- Assists the Chair, Program Director, and Director of Field Education in other programmatic and accreditation matters.
- Communicates with other teams within the department and other university departments to facilitate collaboration.
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills and is able to communicate clearly through oral and written correspondence to students, faculty, staff, and community members.
- Is professional and graceful while handling multiple projects and interacting with students.
- Has strong organizational skills and is calm and positive in difficult situations.
- Works well both independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications And Credentials
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree, plus 2 years of administrative experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent interviewing skills.
- PREFERRED: Master’s degree plus 2 or more years of administrative experience.
- Experience in the social work or human services profession.
- Customer service experience.
- Interviewing experience.
ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES
- Communication and Comprehension: Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information.
- Problem Solving: Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.
- Physical and Sensory Abilities: Occasional travel to local and campus locations; frequent sitting for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard; occasionally standing, walking, climbing stairs; regularly lifting up to 10 pounds; hearing and speaking to effectively communicate orally; occasionally reaching overhead, kneeling, or stooping; occasionally handling materials.

- The working environment is a climate-controlled office setting.

Pay Range
- $18.27 - $21.63
