Program Supplier Assurance Engineer – onsite Chambersburg, PA

About the role
As a Program Supplier Assurance Engineer at RTX (Raytheon Technologies), you will serve as the primary interface between our supplier base and internal stakeholders supporting critical and technically advanced Defense Programs. This position provides onsite supplier quality support to Letterkenny Army Depot (LEAD) product integration operations, including inspections, first article verification, nonconformance management, documentation development, supplier coordination, and collaboration with global Supplier Assurance teams.
You will work closely with Letterkenny personnel and third-party Raytheon inspection agency staff to coordinate in-process inspections, manage containment activities for nonconformances, perform spot checks, respond to technical questions, and support the execution of Raytheon Source Inspection activities.
Responsibilities
- Perform in-process inspections and verification activities to ensure compliance with engineering requirements, specifications, and workmanship standards.
- Conduct source inspections and execute AS9102-compliant First Article Inspection (FAI) verifications.
- Partner with Letterkenny staff managing nonconforming material processes, including identification, documentation, disposition coordination, and communication with internal teams and suppliers.
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve inspection checklists, job aids, and related quality documentation.
- Support supplier requests for information and coordinate Return-to-Vendor (RTV) actions to ensure timely and accurate resolution.
- Develop, track, and report supplier quality metrics to drive transparency and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with a global Supplier Assurance team and interface with feeder suppliers to support quality alignment, issue resolution, and adherence to standards.
- Ensure flow down of product requirements both internally and to sub-tier suppliers through PO requirements, Quality Notes, and Statements of Work.
- Interpret and explain requirements to ensure the supply base understands and complies with quality requirements.
- Drive continuous product and process improvements of the supply base by identifying supplier risk and systemic performance issues using tools such as Root Cause Corrective Actions, Six Sigma, and Lean Methodologies.
- Apply Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) processes related to supplier performance and implementation of necessary engagements to improve supplier manufacturing processes.
- Perform defect data analysis and review with program managers and supplier management to develop Supplier improvement plans.
- Participate in multi-functional teams for problem resolution and continuous improvement with an emphasis on Six Sigma, Lean practices, and other analytical methods.
- Support containment activities associated with discrepant material, with assistance from functional stakeholders.
- Drive the supplier corrective action process, including review, approval, and monitoring; ensure containment and closed-loop Root Cause Corrective Action; communicate issues and resolutions to stakeholders.
Requirements
- A university degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years of prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field and a minimum of 3 years of experience.
- Relevant experience in quality engineering, manufacturing, or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience with one or more of the following Quality Management standards: ISO 9001, AS9100, AS9102, AS9103, AS9145, or MDA Assurance Provisions.
- Active and transferable U.S. government-issued Secret security clearance required prior to start date.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM).
- Previous experience interpreting schematic drawings and hardware inspection techniques.
- Experience generating and presenting key metrics and performance reviews to leadership and suppliers.
- Knowledge of industry technical standards (e.g., ANSI, CMMI, ASTM).
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Certifications: Six Sigma, Lean, ASQ, ISO 9001 Auditor.
- Experience with cables and wiring harnesses, electro-mechanical assemblies, machined components, and/or final integration of end-item assemblies.
- GD&T knowledge, understanding, and practical application.
- Experience implementing modern Quality Assurance and Control methodologies such as Statistical Process Controls (SPC), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), and Continuous Improvement in a supplier setting.
- Practical knowledge of Aerospace or commercial equivalent Preventative tools (APQP, PPAP, SPC, FMEA).
- Practical knowledge of Root Cause Corrective Action processes.
- Practical knowledge of Special Manufacturing Processes and their management.
- Practical knowledge of First Article Inspection and AS9102 management.
- Experience with hardware inspection techniques.
- Knowledge of General Statistical Process Control.
- Experience building and maintaining relationships with customers or partners (both internal and external), including in an international/global setting.
- Communication skills that exhibit presence and influence.

Pay
The salary range for this role is $86,800 – $165,200 USD.
