UCLA Extension (UNEX) is one of the top providers of continuing and professional education in the United States, offering programs and classes to more than 50,000 students per year through approximately 4,500 classes and certificate programs. These meet the professional development, continuing education, and personal enrichment needs of traditional, nontraditional, domestic, international, professional, and continuing education students throughout and beyond Los Angeles.

About the Role

The Program Supervisor supports the strategic, academic, and operational management of a defined portfolio of academic programs and certificates. Working under the direction of a Director, the Program Supervisor ensures academic excellence, operational efficiency, and responsiveness to workforce and community needs. The role serves as the Director's operational designee when delegated and collaborates with Teaching & Learning, Marketing and Communications, Academic Advising and Student Success, and Enrollment Management to ensure consistent quality and execution across the instructor and student experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage academic or professional education programs with a focus on academic excellence and operational efficiency.
  • Produce clear, well-crafted reports, course descriptions, marketing copy, and correspondence.
  • Apply knowledge of curriculum development, adult learning theory, and educational operations.
  • Analyze and organize workflows, collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
  • Plan, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks under shifting deadlines.
  • Apply basic marketing and market research principles to support program promotion and audience targeting; use digital content creation tools to create promotional materials.
  • Work independently and collaboratively, following through on projects with minimal supervision.
  • Lead and coordinate projects, including workflow organization, cross-functional collaboration, instructor onboarding, and fostering a supportive team environment.
  • Use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher), Adobe Acrobat, and general Windows-based applications efficiently.
  • Perform quantitative and financial analysis, including budget preparation, trend analysis, and interpretation of financial data to inform decision-making.
  • Collaborate across academic and administrative units and represent the portfolio in cross-functional initiatives.
  • Work occasional evenings and weekends as required.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in managing academic or professional education programs.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellent internal and external customer service, with professionalism, fairness, dignity, and respect.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development, adult learning theory, and educational operations.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced project and time management abilities.
  • Experience with basic marketing and market research principles.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated project leadership and coordination skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and general Windows-based applications.
  • Strong quantitative and financial analysis skills, including budget preparation and trend analysis.
  • Ability to collaborate across academic and administrative units.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s or terminal degree and/or equivalent experience and educational training.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and university business policies.

Special Conditions

  • Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
  • A Live Scan background check must be completed prior to the start of employment.
  • Candidate(s) must be 18 years or older to be eligible to be hired.
  • Position is hybrid, requiring a minimum of 3 days per week on-site.

Pay

UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common.

Schedule

  • Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM.
