Description/Duties And Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor, this position is responsible for providing operational and administrative support for the newest multi-use City recreation facility, The Rink Sports Pavilion, assisting with facility operations, staff coordination, program implementation, and customer service. This position will be required to work various hours, including late nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Aids in coordination, direction, implementation, and oversight of the day-to-day operations of The Rink, including managing equipment, maintaining daily procedures, overseeing floor maintenance and programming operations, facility set up and tear down, as well as on-site coordination of themed events and private party reservations.
- Aids in skate rental inventory, including maintaining proper stock of skates, protective gear, and other equipment; assists with tracking equipment inventory.
- Supports daily maintenance procedures to ensure clean, safe conditions and proper care of the facility.
- Acts as a Skate Guard to maintain safety on the skating rink floor, including but not limited to, monitoring skaters for safe practices and enforcing rink rules; responding to accidents, injuries, or emergencies and providing basic first aid; and conducting regular safety checks and reporting hazards or maintenance needs.
- Aids in supervision and leadership of part-time, temporary, and seasonal staff; tracks staff schedules and part-time hours; trains staff on program policies and processes; oversees performance and provides effective feedback.
- Aids in regular team meetings to share updates, address concerns, and maintain staff engagement.
- Establishes and maintains positive working relationships and fosters an environment that supports staff development.
- Provides excellent customer service to program participants and the general public, including responding to inquiries and fulfilling customer needs over the phone, through e-mail, and on-site.
- Aids in creating physical and digital promotional materials to increase program awareness and facility attendance.
- Utilizes point-of-sale and registration software.
- Updates and maintains The Rink’s website with current program information, schedules, and announcements.
- Aids in collecting and tracking program and event participation, as well as facility usage, to identify trends and support planning for future programs.
- Aids in the development of programmatic forms, manuals, and documents.
- Maintains various logs, forms, and reports for skates and facility maintenance.
- Tracks and issues staff uniforms.
- Aids in tracking contracts, work order requests, and purchase orders.
- Aids in ordering supplies and monitoring expenditures; processes invoices, tracks payments, and ensures financial records are accurate and up to date.
Requirements
Must successfully pass the City’s skating ability assessment prior to accepting an official job offer; continued qualification for this position requires successful completion of the assessment on an annual basis.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- A High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Recreation or related field is highly desirable.
- One year of experience coordinating, overseeing, and supporting recreation service programs.
- Supervisory and leadership experience is highly desirable.
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate in a tactful and positive manner with diverse groups of people.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively prioritize daily workload, coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, be flexible with changing priorities, and meet time-sensitive deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively, tactfully, and positively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to supervise, train, and mentor part-time, temporary, seasonal employees.
- Strong data-management skills with attention to detail and the ability to track and monitor program data, supplies, and inventory levels accurately and consistently.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly and effectively resolve problems relating to customer service and/or recreation programs.
- Experience with website management and computer programs, such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Canva, and registration software.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with City employees, the public, and outside organizations.
- The ability to perform simple mathematical calculations quickly and accurately.
- The ability to work autonomously and within a collaborative team.
- A strong work ethic and a high level of integrity and professionalism.
- The ability to work flexible hours, including late nights, weekends, and holidays.
- The ability to lift and drag both office and sports supply equipment weighing 25 pounds or more is also required.
