About the role
BAE Systems is seeking a Program Quality Engineer to join our team. This role involves collaborating across functions to ensure programs are executed with high quality, aligning customer, regulatory, and internal requirements, and supporting the quality success of the program.
Responsibilities
- Create quality basis of estimates and develop, execute, and maintain the overall program quality plan including schedules, resources, and budgets.
- Manage quality requirements by engaging early in the program lifecycle to assess customer quality requirements against internal standard requirements, influence bids, and ensure alignment from contract flow down to design, factories, and suppliers.
- Participate in design and development review processes covering planning, requirements, design, verification, and validation.
- Ensure internal and external requirements are understood, validated, and properly traced and linked to design, implementation, and testing.
- Support qualification testing including system test set-up conformity, test monitoring, and review of qualification test reports and failure investigation reports.
- Provide supplier/subcontract support by developing supplier quality clausing plans and reviewing and approving subcontract management plans and statements of work.
- Manage and report quality metrics and ensure that programs meet all quality performance requirements utilizing tools like APQP/AS9145.
- Provide nonconformance management by ensuring quality issues are identified and addressed promptly including overseeing Material Alert investigations and dispositioning and establishing & chairing Material Review Boards.
- Organize, support, and/or execute ISO 9001/AS9100 audits and CMMI assessments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and 2-4+ years of experience or 6-8+ years of experience in lieu of a degree.
- Absolutely required to obtain a Secret security clearance with ability to obtain special access clearances.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations (e.g. AS9100/ISO 9001, CMMI).
- Experienced with root cause corrective action (RCCA).
- Strong problem solving and risk management skills.
- Familiarity with lifecycle management (LCM) process and project management.
- Customer skills including ability to develop solid, working customer relationships with credibility.
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- ASQ Certification: CQE/CQAGreen Belt/Black Belt Certified.
- Proficient in requirement management tools.
- Experience in system development life cycle including requirements capture and verification, design and development, and system level integration and testing including understanding the purpose of tests and method to validate.
- Experience with AS9145 APQP (DFMEA, PFMEA, and Control Plan development).
- Familiarity with Quality Sciences (8D/RCCA and Lean Six Sigma methodologies), AS9100/ISO 9001 standards, and Capability Model Maturity Integration (CMMI).
- Knowledge of military aerospace testing standards.
- Experience with JIRA or equivalent workflow management.
- Experience in aerospace and defense, automotive, or medical industry.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $97008 - $164914
