Program Planner
Janicki Industries is a private and family-owned business based in Washington State with a Layton, Utah, facility. The Layton facility specializes in machining large, complex structures built from carbon fiber composites and aluminum for the aerospace and space exploration markets. The parts produced are installed on today’s most advanced fighters, bombers, rockets, and space vehicles.
About the role
This on-site position in Layton, Utah focuses on program planning, project requirement planning, and scope planning. The Program Planner supports Project Management and Operations in designing, creating, and executing project schedules and budgets using SAP Project Management software. This role provides critical support to Project Management, Operations Management, and Accounting through project schedule performance, critical path analysis, job cost tracking, and global/project performance.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain project schedules in SAP using templates, calculators, or based on SOW, drawings, and proposals.
- Enter WBS/activity details, resource loading/budgeting, activity durations, logic, and relationships.
- Define the critical path for projects and monitor schedule and budget performance.
- Keep project plans and schedules accurate in SAP, including adding activities, adjusting budgets, adjusting schedules, and changing work centers.
- Communicate with Project Managers and Operations Managers about schedule needs, including flowing down project information, linking work products and documents to activities, making PDFs of documents, and running work orders.
- Create reports about project cost and schedule performance.
- Meet with Project Managers, Program Management, and customers to provide schedule support for large projects.
- Field daily schedule and budget questions and concerns from Program Management and Operations Management.
- Understand business systems, procedures, and processes and how they are integrated.
- Stay updated on activities associated with each process, including knowledge of materials, scheduled durations, and cell capabilities. Visit cells to observe work in progress and update project statuses.
- Compile milestone costs for invoicing according to contract requirements.
- Gather information to assist in generating sales proposals.
- Review project requirements during the sales process and generate cost tables.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident for this position due to ITAR and EAR regulations.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. citizenship required). Janicki will assist with gaining this access once employed.
- Agreement to enter a Continuous Evaluation program for Special Access Program or other government access requirements.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering/Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Business Management, or a similar field is preferred.
- Previous experience with scheduling software such as Microsoft Project, Primavera, or SAP (SAP experience is a strong plus).
- PMP and previous ERP experience preferred.
- Equivalent work experience in manufacturing, logistics, and production systems will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Familiarity with a variety of field concepts, practices, and procedures; ability to rely on extensive experience, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Must work well under pressure, meeting and completing multiple deadlines.
- Cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors is required.
- Punctuality and good attendance are essential functions of the job.
Pay
Salary range for this role is between $83,000 - $105,000, plus discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, and additional pay for off-shifts. The range provided is Janicki’s estimate of the base compensation; actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities.
