About the role

Metropolitan Family Services (MFS) is spearheading Communities Partnering 4 Peace, a framework designed to provide a comprehensive, long-term approach to reduce violence and gang activity. This framework brings together community-driven strategies to empower community-based organizations to intervene with individuals at the highest risk of driving violence while transforming perceptions and realities of their community. The Program Manager of Community Safety & Transit Operations will join the Metropolitan Peace Initiatives Team to support this holistic effort, responding to high-risk incidents and proactively preventing situations.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise all Senior Field Managers who serve as field-level operations leads coordinating staffing, schedules, and deployment strategies.
• Foster an environment of open communication and collaboration to build a student-centered, community-focused team among all field staff and partners.
• Ensure training and standards are operationalized with fidelity in the field by Senior Field Managers and partner agency staff.
• Coordinate training programs for violence intervention, de-escalation, and situational awareness specific to navigating youth group behavior safely within a transit environment.
• Provide technical support to the field in implementing new strategies that demonstrate program model fidelity, documentation, collaboration across communities, and use of evaluation feedback to inform practice.
• Actively participate in forums, meetings, and strategy sessions with community members, public officials, and law enforcement (such as CPD and OEMC).
• Authorize personnel actions in consultation with Human Resources; promote staff diversity; provide supervision, consultation, and training to staff; and consistently evaluate performance, offering coaching and timely feedback.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in public policy, public health, criminology, sociology, or a related field (required).
• 4+ years of experience in training, street outreach, or equivalent.
• Experience supervising field managers, program supervisors, or operations leaders with increasing levels of responsibility.
• Experience operating violence interruption, street outreach, or community safety programs in high-traffic, mobile public spaces or 24-hour operational environments.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English (preferred).
• Ability to drive for work using a personally owned vehicle.

• Ability to organize and cultivate leadership among diverse stakeholder groups and facilitate group meetings.
• Ability to develop curriculum, coordinate training, provide policy analysis, and deliver dynamic presentations.
• Deep knowledge and cultural understanding of community dynamics, youth travel patterns, and neighborhoods served by the CTA's Red, Orange, and Green Line corridors.

Physical Demands

• Sitting and standing for sustained periods of time.
• Frequent talking, hearing, and use of hands/fingers to handle or operate objects/controls.
• Occasional standing, bending, stretching, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
• Close visual acuity required for preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, and viewing a computer terminal.

Pay

The average salary for this position ranges from $58,000 to $70,371 annually, based on skill and experience level.
