About the Department

Information Services (IS) is the central information technology unit at the University of Oregon and provides wide-ranging services to campus. IS consists of four major functional areas:

  • Customer Experience, which serves as the key contact point for interactions with campus clients and customers;
  • Applications & Middleware, which manages and supports applications, integration services, identity management, and data management;
  • Information Security, which helps protect virtual or physical information;
  • Technology Infrastructure, which provides administration and support for the software, hardware, and services needed to support the campus IT environment.

IS also includes the Advanced Network Technology Center and works closely with the Network for Education and Research in Oregon.

About the Role

The Program Manager for Learning & Technology Adoption leads programs, training, events, and initiatives that support the effective use of technology, services, and processes across the University of Oregon. This role enables faculty, staff, and campus partners to adopt tools and practices that improve learning, workflows, and service delivery.

Working in a collaborative, matrixed environment, the Program Manager partners across Information Services and the broader university community to translate institutional needs into scalable learning programs. The role leads through influence, balancing strategic planning with hands-on execution, and guides programs from concept through execution while aligning goals and outcomes across stakeholders. The position advances institutional priorities by delivering high-impact learning experiences, supporting technology adoption, and establishing sustainable practices for training, evaluation, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver complex events from concept through execution, including managing logistics, coordinating across teams or external partners, and influencing stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Design and deliver training, learning, or educational content for professional or adult audiences using a variety of delivery modalities (e.g., in person, virtual, hybrid, or asynchronous).
  • Achieve measurable outcomes by improving workflows, learning experiences, service delivery, or decision-making.
  • Operate effectively in ambiguous or evolving environments by defining direction, prioritizing work, and driving progress to completion.
  • Communicate complex information clearly and effectively in writing, verbally, and through multimedia formats; present and facilitate discussions for diverse audiences.
  • Manage and prioritize complex, multi-faceted work using strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with faculty, staff, students, and stakeholders to assess needs, align expectations, and achieve outcomes.
  • Quickly learn new technologies and translate technical information into clear, engaging learning materials across formats (presentations, e-learning, instructional aids).
  • Take initiative and deliver results in evolving environments by identifying opportunities, defining direction, prioritizing work, and driving progress.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail, professionalism, and responsiveness.
  • Deliver high-quality customer service and contribute to a respectful, safety-conscious workplace.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of experience planning, coordinating, and delivering complex events from concept through execution, including managing logistics, coordinating across teams or external partners, and influencing stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Five (5) years of experience designing and delivering training, learning, or educational content for professional or adult audiences using a variety of delivery modalities (e.g., in person, virtual, hybrid, or asynchronous).
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve measurable outcomes by improving workflows, learning experiences, service delivery, or decision-making, with documented examples of impact.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in ambiguous or evolving environments by defining direction, prioritizing work, and driving progress to completion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience driving adoption and sustained use of tools, systems, or processes through training, communication, change management, and stakeholder engagement strategies.
  • Experience planning and delivering large-scale or high-impact programs or initiatives (e.g., conferences, institutional rollouts, multi-session programs, or campus-wide campaigns).
  • Experience working in complex or matrixed organizations, such as higher education, government, research, or large nonprofit environments.
  • Experience delivering projects from concept through completion with minimal oversight.
