About the Role
Plans and manages activities of a designated project(s) to ensure goals and objectives are accomplished within a prescribed time frame and within funding parameters. This individual acts as the “conductor” of a given project(s), responsible for the project’s success, removing roadblocks, and recovering from issues if they arise.
Responsibilities
- Supports all business objectives of the company by aligning Program Management activities with organizational goals and objectives.
- Represents the company with assigned customers and maintains customer relationships while understanding their expectations.
- Manages and tracks open issues within the scope of the position, driving them to closure through tracking, delegation, and escalation.
- Plans program activities and develops master timing schedules that meet program objectives.
- Leads assigned program(s) for continuous future development, growth, and improvement of the program, department, and company.
- Ensures customer satisfaction with feasibility and design specifications, keeping records of customer design.
- Travels to customer locations to support product development, including product reviews, testing, and change updates, with periodic travel to company manufacturing facilities (domestic and international).
- Develops program status reports and reports status to management.
- Leads coordination of technical reviews, including dry-runs, to ensure customer expectations are addressed.
- Maintains the master program book and coordinates APQP activities.
- Monitors prototype and pre-production builds for adherence to design intent, identifying issues and leading resolutions.
- Coordinates all product development activity between OEM customers and responsible departments within the company.
- Manages assigned program’s product launch phases, including control of program timing requirements, program issues, and commercial impact of design changes.
- (PM II ONLY) Reviews and/or develops cost analyses and proposals aimed at reducing costs and/or improving the assigned program’s sales operations.
- Participates in customer strategic discussions for issue resolution.
- Leads coordination of manufacturing, quality, and engineering “exceptions” and/or clarification lists, ensuring all customer requirements are addressed and negotiating requirements with the customer.
- Manages internal project approval, cost details, technical and commercial change logs.
- Directly supports project teams (engineering, quality, sales, etc.) and follows up on related projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Project/Program Management.
- 2-5 years of industry experience (PMI); 5-10 years of industry experience (PMII).
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Project.
- High level of customer interface experience.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
- Well-organized and detail-oriented.
Supervisory Responsibilities
May be required to supervise the duties of others to perform job responsibilities as designated by area/department management to ensure project success and deliverables.
Working Conditions
- Required to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- May occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work 40-60 hours per week.
- Domestic and international travel may be required as needed.
- Primarily works in a professional business office with exposure to testing areas and periodic exposure to manufacturing areas.
