Program Manager
Job Role and Responsibility
At AMD, we are seeking Program Managers to define, plan, and drive software artificial intelligence (SW AI) projects and program plans based on management and senior technical guidance. Candidates should possess a thorough understanding of project management principles and be able to apply them effectively on both small and large-scale projects. They will be responsible for managing projects or processes of significant technical importance and ensuring their success.
Program Managers will initiate significant changes to existing processes and methods to enhance project and team efficiency. They will create and maintain project management artifacts such as schedules, resource forecasts, risk and issue logs, and provide unique views of project status updates. They will also facilitate cross-functional team dependencies and communications, identify action or mitigation plans for issues or risks that arise during the project lifecycle, and collect, analyze, organize, and publish work performance data via dashboards and recurring status reports.
Program Managers will coordinate with the AI/ML GPU Software (ROCm) documentation team as a Scrum Master, focusing on Agile values, practices, and processes. They will ensure the team is fully functional, productive, and focused on the sprint goal. They will utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including circuit boards, processors, chips, and electronic equipment, as well as engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to design, develop, and support various AMD products.
Qualifications
Required Education: A degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. A master’s degree or foreign equivalent is preferred.
Required Experience: Three (3) years of experience in the job offered or a closely related engineering or program management role. Alternatively, a bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field and five (5) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a closely related engineering or program management role.
Required Skills: The following skills are essential:
- Developing web/mobile applications using web technologies like HTML5, CSS3, or JavaScript;
- AWS or Microsoft Azure;
- Jira or Confluence;
- Leading cross-functional teams in the planning, execution, and delivery of projects according to established timelines and budgets;
- Identifying and mitigating project risks, proactively addressing issues as they arise to maintain project momentum;
- Implementing project management best practices and methodologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness;
- Coaching and mentoring Agile teams, ensuring adherence to Scrum practices and fostering an environment of continuous improvement;
- Project management methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall.
