Program Director / Open Rank Clinical Faculty – Orthotics and Prosthetics Assistant Program

About the role

The Program Director for the Bachelor of Health Sciences degree with a concentration in Orthotics and Prosthetics Assistant in the College of Health Professions will oversee the development and implementation of the program. The program is scheduled to begin in Fall 2026 with its first cohort of students and faculty.

Responsibilities

• Complete the development of the accelerated online program in collaboration with the faculty and seek accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon recommendation of the National Commission on Orthotics and Prosthetics Education (NCOPE).
• Administer the program, including preparing and managing the budget to achieve program goals and curriculum development.
• Provide leadership for matters related to accreditation, teaching schedules, recruitment of new faculty, evaluation of faculty and staff performance, support for grant and external development opportunities, student recruitment and advising, and formulation and implementation of strategic plans and policies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.
• Credentialed in the profession of Orthotics and/or Prosthetics or hold a professional license in the Orthotics & Prosthetics profession as is required by the state in which he/she is employed.
• Minimum two years of clinical experience in profession.
• College level teaching experience.
• Demonstrated current and contemporary competence in the teaching content area as well as a commitment to service and scholarship.
• Experience in the effective administration of a university department to include curricular evaluation and design, programmatic fiscal and personnel management, accreditation, and strategic planning.
• Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and lifelong learning (e.g., continuing professional education in the specialty area(s), higher education degrees, research, writing, speaking, training, etc.).
• Working knowledge of MS Office.

Qualifications

• Required Qualifications for Appointment at the Clinical Assistant Professor rank (less than five years teaching experience): Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university. Credentialed in the profession of Orthotics and/or Prosthetics or hold a professional license in the Orthotics & Prosthetics profession as is required by the state in which he/she is employed. Minimum two years of clinical experience in profession. College level teaching experience. Demonstrated current and contemporary competence in the teaching content area as well as a commitment to service and scholarship. Demonstrated experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance in educational theories and techniques. Experience in the effective administration of a university department to include curricular evaluation and design, programmatic fiscal and personnel management, accreditation, and strategic planning. Credentialed in the profession of Orthotics and/or Prosthetics or hold a professional license in the Orthotics & Prosthetics profession as is required by the state in which he/she is employed. Minimum two years of clinical experience in profession. College level teaching experience. Demonstrated teaching and learning contributions, including advances in curriculum, pedagogy, course delivery, or similar innovation, and a commitment to service. Demonstrated experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance in educational theories and techniques. Experience in the effective administration of a university department to include curricular evaluation and design, programmatic fiscal and personnel management, accreditation, and strategic planning. Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and lifelong learning (e.g., continuing professional education in the specialty area(s), higher education degrees, research, writing, speaking, training, etc.). Working knowledge of MS Office.

Preferred Qualifications

• Preferred Qualifications at the Clinical Assistant Professor Rank: Master’s Degree preferred. Demonstrated ongoing formal training designed to maintain and upgrade his/her professional, instructional and administrative capabilities. Previous experience as a Program Director, Coordinator or other managerial position to include knowledge of performance evaluation techniques, key metrics, data analysis and reporting. Experience implementing an educational program, including developing and growing traditional and online programs in Orthotics and Prosthetics Assistant. Demonstrated student success-focused initiatives. Demonstrated leadership and experience in building alliances and/or partnerships across the college, university, academic, and business communities.
