Program Director (LPC, LMFT, LCSW)

About the Role

The Program Director (PD) is responsible for the supervision and management of the treatment program, facility, staff, and clients. They consult with the Division Leader, Director of Operations, and the Chief Executive Officer as needed to ensure services, program functioning, and client treatment align with the Discovery Behavioral Health mission statement and values.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of the program to ensure quality and initiate any necessary improvements.
• Supervise weekly Treatment Team Meetings to ensure consistent and effective communication, proper oversight of client development, and a team-based approach to treatment.
• Participate in the interview process to assess the qualifications of prospective staff members.
• Provide bi-monthly in-service trainings for all professional and counseling treatment staff, covering areas such as:
  • Diagnosis and Assessment
  • Group Therapy
  • Milieu Management
  • Communication Skills
• Evaluate and appraise each professional staff member, completing a written narrative identifying strengths, weaknesses, and goals annually (after the first three months of employment and yearly thereafter).
• Contribute to effective teamwork by collaborating with staff to align their skills and energies with the Discovery Mission Statement.
• Complete utilization reviews, oversee the primary therapist process, and assist in ensuring all client stays are covered (e.g., insurance, private pay).
• Work with staff and the facility manager to arrange shift coverage and adjust staffing to match census needs.
• Serve as a positive role model to staff, residents, employees, and guests by maintaining a professional and caring attitude.
• Maintain a client caseload as appropriate, assign cases based on therapist-client match, and provide individualized treatment.
• Provide individual and family therapy, following all duties outlined in the therapist job description.
• Co-lead process groups or other clinically oriented groups as needed and oversee all group sessions.
• Participate in the marketing plan, including maintaining collaborative relationships with outpatient professionals, conducting facility tours, and providing on-call support.
• Participate in Discovery in Recovery and/or Parent Support/Alumni Groups.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident and related activities.
• Travel to other facilities for trainings as required.
• Exercise supervision of all professional and counseling treatment staff.
• Obtain training and a login for the state CHRIS and CONNECT systems (Virginia State Only).

Requirements

• Master’s Degree or Doctorate preferred in Addiction Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
• Current and valid LMFT, LMSW, PhD, PsyD, LPC, LCSW, MFTI, RD, or equivalent strongly preferred.
• Two years’ experience in administration or management of mental health programs.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, full-time, onsite in Portland, OR.

Pay

$90,000 – $100,000 annually.
