About the role

The Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, implementing, and managing administrative duties for the newborn screening program. They collaborate with community-based organizations, area hospitals, off-site practices, and community practitioners to ensure the program's productivity. The PC oversees program management and outcomes reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all newborn screenings are performed
  • Receive and maintain all applicable state documentation
  • Connect families to appropriate resources
  • Function as a liaison between the NYS Dept. of Health, providers, and families
  • Perform blood collection and other clinical tasks as needed

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Nursing or related field
  • Certification in a related nursing field
  • Clinical knowledge of the newborn and postpartum patient populations
  • Knowledge of newborn screening regulations and processes
  • New York State licensed RN
  • BLS (AHA)
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • 5-7 years of RN experience
  • Expertise with Joint Commission regulations and certification requirements

Qualifications

  • Experience in healthcare administration or similar field
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills

Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of electronic health records (EHR) systems
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
