About the role
Provide services and activities for first generation, low-income as well as underrepresented students in preparation for success in graduate school. McNair is a grant funded program that works with eligible students from all disciplines, engages them in high-quality research and prepares them for baccalaureate attainment, enrollment in graduate studies and attainment of master’s and/or doctoral degrees.
Responsibilities
- Provide counseling to program participants to assess need and monitor growth of their academic and personal objectives as well as maintain program goals.
- Cookordinate and execute programming activities and workshops during the academic year and summer session to ensure compliance with program objectives.
- Develop a calendar of McNair events that incorporate campus community and like programs to contribute to the growth and development of program participants.
- Maintain scholar records as well as streamline record keeping processes as related to program objectives.
- Provide objective-based reports and provide data for director and USDE for reporting purposes (i.e. APR).
- Assist with the identification, recruitment, and selection of new cohort annually.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree with three (3+) plus years of experience working with student population.
- Knowledge and understanding of program and its overall missions.
- Programming initiatives.
- Strong writing and verbal communications skills.
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Teamwork.
- Positive attitude.
