Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepares reagents and solutions specific to the science area assigned, using established standards.
- Sets up laboratory for science lab experiments and exercises; distributes and arranges equipment, models and other related material.
- Affords assistance in the operation and maintenance of instructional labs.
- Participates in the planning and implementation of exercises and experiments.
- Implements new or modified policies and procedures.
- Prepares special instructions for non-routine and complex assignments.
- Complies with the correct procedures, policies, and health and safety regulations.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, and completion of at least one college-level science laboratory course.
- Knowledge of basic laboratory safety protocols.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Experience or ability to work with, troubleshoot, and maintain assigned equipment.
- Ability to be accurate and detailed oriented, use sound judgement, multi-task, be people oriented, and work independently as well as with others.
Physical Demands
This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as light work involving lifting no more than 25 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Even though the weight lifted may be very little, a job is in this category when it requires a good deal of walking or standing.
